Atlantique Collection by Jean Rousseau Paris
A bold fusion of contrasts and elegant materials
Victor Hugo, a French renowned writer, during the summer of 1843, embarked on a journey to the Basque Country and made several stops, including Pasajes in Guipuscoa. But it was Biarritz that left a lasting impression on him. So, he wrote: “I know of no other place more charming and magnificent than Biarritz.”
This iconic French seaside town, celebrated for its elegant architecture and breathtaking panoramas, has long inspired artists and creative souls. Inspired by the timeless allure of Biarritz, Jean Rousseau Paris presents its new Atlantique Collection.
Contrast and Elegance
The Atlantique Collection is an ode to contrasts and elegant materials. Made from nubuck alligator, calfskin, fabric and even rubber, the bracelets and small leather goods in this collection embody a refined summer look. The materials are carefully selected and offer a harmonious blend of textures and colors, creating unique pieces reminiscent of Biarritz’s contrasting architecture. The Maison has combined the traditional charm of the Basque coast with a contemporary touch.
The collection features timeless straps such as the Classic 3.5 but also new ones like the Velcro watch strap. The collection also enhances the materials with items like the Soft Watch Roll.
Innovation and craftsmanship
Always looking for novelties to satisfy and surprise its customers, Manufacture Jean Rousseau has created an original finish on its alligator leathers: the water-repellent nubuck alligator. Similar to the nubuck traditionally used on bovine leathers, this finish gives the alligator a very pleasant velvet touch, rarely seen on an exotic leather. This innovative approach adds a touch of modernity while preserving the luxurious character of these pieces. Our artisans continue to produce every single watch strap, belt, and fine leather piece by hand in keeping with the savoir-faire passed down from generation to generation.
Commitment to Ethics and Quality
Manufacture Jean Rousseau adheres to a stringent ethical policy in its use of skins. At an international level, it is committed to safeguarding endangered species by strictly observing the terms set out by CITES (Washington Convention) and the REACH regulations.
The hides and skins used by Maison Jean Rousseau, including alligator, are sourced from ICFA-certified breeding farms approved by the federal agency US Fish & Wildlife Service. All the brand’s partners undergo regular audits to ensure their continuous adherence to the Manufacture’s ethical code and values.
